was recently awarded $5,000 for the most influential non-profit
organization to educate their local area for prisoner reentry.
Organizations across the country were asked to submit in writing how
they impacted prison aftercare in their communities. From those
submissions several organizations were chosen to move to the second
round and complete additional questions. The Award was announced at the National CAPA Conference held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin October 9, 2010. The
Christian Association for Prison Aftercare (CAPA) advocates, inspires,
encourages and educates those who bring good out of incarceration and
its
aftermath.
GROW Ministries is the only Faith based transitional housing program in the 350,000 population, Quad City area. We
assist women in crisis through Domestic Violence Counseling and our
transitional home program takes women from incarceration to
independence, our van ministry helps the homeless and our newest arm of
the ministry is helping victims of human trafficking.
GROW
Ministries, founded by Janet Wolfe, in 2005. After much research in our
local area it was discovered that no other organization provided theses
needs for women. Our domestic violence victims counseling equips women
to become agents of change in their relationships. We have discovered
that all addictions are a spiritual issue. Once
the women are able to develop a “heart” for God things begin to change.
Their hearts change, then their thinking begins to change, and that’s
when their actions can change, and they never end up in jail again.
